Abstract
In this retrospective chart review, we explored racial disparities in a large population of patients with autoimmune blistering diseases (AIBD) seen at Emory University, with a focus on comorbidities, mortality and hospitalizations for AIBD. Black patients presented at an earlier age and had higher comorbidities and measures of deprivation, which potentially contributed to a higher risk of hospitalization and mortality. Black patients also had a more than twofold increased risk of hospitalizations for AIBD than White patients (RR 2.34, 95% CI 1.62–3.37; P < 0.001).
