Abstract

Primary care providers (PCPs) play a crucial role in promoting cancer prevention practices. Prevention practices aim to reduce cancer incidence and mortality while improving long-term outcomes for patients who develop cancer. Multiple factors significantly influence the adoption of cancer prevention practices, including behavioral, social, cultural, and financial considerations. Barriers to implementation disproportionately affect underserved populations, creating substantial health disparities in cancer prevention access and outcomes. PCPs can implement evidence-based cancer prevention clinical guidelines where available. Additionally, they can leverage emerging technologies to more precisely identify patients who will benefit most from preventive interventions.
