Abstract
Maimets et al.<sup>1</sup> reveal that appropriate tissue shape is required during maturation of the intestinal epithelium from the fetal to adult state, and this transition is mediated by the mechanotransduction protein-YAP. The introduced method transforms fetal cells into mature, functional cells in vitro, unachievable by traditional three-dimensional cultures.
