Editorial Commentary: Suture Button Fixation Is the Latest Trend in Glenoid Allograft Bone Block Fixation, but Is It Here to Stay?

Abstract

Anterior glenohumeral instability with bone loss continues to remain a global problem. Traditional arthroscopic Bankart repair has shown unacceptably high failure rates in some situations. New arthroscopic procedures are being developed to try and help solve this complex problem. Arthroscopic distal tibial allograft reconstruction using suture button fixation helps restore bony anatomy without the higher risk of complications associated with screw fixation or coracoid harvesting. Improved clinical results, high graft union rates, and low rates of recurrent instability might be obtained in the correct patients.
