Abstract
In a retrospective cohort study, we evaluated the test characteristics of C-reactive protein, alone and in combination with other inflammatory markers, for invasive bacterial infection in well-appearing, febrile infants aged 8-60 days. The combination of procalcitonin and C-reactive protein demonstrated a sensitivity of 91.4% (95% confidence interval: 84.7-95.8) and specificity of 76.5% (95% confidence interval: 75.3-77.6).
