Editorial Commentary: Two Hips, One Patient: Insights From Staged Bilateral Hip Arthroscopy.

Abstract

Bilateral femoroacetabular impingement syndrome is commonly encountered in clinical practice, and determining the optimal approach and timing for surgical management of both hips remains an important consideration. I have performed both simultaneous and staged bilateral hip arthroscopies; however, my preference has been to stage procedures to allow for appropriate recovery, functional assessment, and patient tolerance following the initial surgery. Managing bilateral pathology requires balancing surgical efficiency with patient safety, rehabilitation demands, and expectations. Thoughtful consideration of these factors is essential when determining the most appropriate strategy for treating patients with bilateral disease.
