Abstract
Chronic autoimmune inflammation is increasingly understood to be shaped by the tissue metabolic environment. Weyand and colleagues show that lipid-rich tissues trigger lipid droplet-dependent, gasdermin D-mediated pyroptosis in metabolically exhausted CD4<sup>+</sup> T cells, thereby sustaining inflammatory pathology.
