Abstract
To assess environmental health literacy (EHL) among dental professionals and identify associated factors. Cross-sectional survey using a structured questionnaire evaluated knowledge, attitudes, practices, and confidence. Literacy scores (20-100) were derived from Likert-scale items, with ≥70% indicating good literacy. Linear and logistic regression analyses identified associated factors. Among 386 participants, the mean (SD) literacy score was 71.45 (15.39), with 51.3% demonstrating good literacy. Knowledge (55.7%) and attitudes (65.6%) were higher, while good practice was lower (42.5%), indicating a gap between awareness and implementation. Attendance at environmental health events was associated with higher scores (β = 5.64, p < 0.001) and greater odds of good literacy (aOR = 5.21, 95% CI: 2.76-10.14). EHL was moderate, with gaps between awareness and practice. Targeted education is essential to strengthen environmentally sustainable dental practices.
