Abstract
Health care leaders face intensifying pressures, from rising costs to workforce challenges and shifting patient expectations. The new era of health care consumerism offers a path forward, reimagining how health systems engage people as consumers across their full health journeys. This article outlines how leaders can evolve from traditional transactional models of patient engagement toward an always-on, data-driven, trust-based model that strengthens patient outcomes, improves efficiency, and builds lasting trust and loyalty with consumers. By embracing the principles of this new health care consumerism and the new tools that make it possible, executives can align strategy, technology, and talent with what matters most - delivering care that is accessible, personalized, and sustainable.
