Abstract
Focal chondral defects (FCDs) are often encountered during hip arthroscopy for the treatment of femoroacetabular impingement. Historically, arthroscopic treatment for FCDs in the hip joint has revolved around microfracture, though recent evidence has showed inferior outcomes with this approach. Open cartilage repair procedures in the hip joint require a surgical hip dislocation and carry increased morbidity to the patient. This technical note offers a single-staged, arthroscopic treatment option for FCDs of the hip joint by combining autologous minced cartilage, allograft cartilage extracellular matrix, and platelet-rich plasma.
