Abstract
The long head of the biceps tendon (LHBT), as a tendinous structure adjacent to the rotator cuff, can be easily used to repair the rotator cuff. Currently, there are many different surgical procedures for the LHBT. Direct severance of the LHBT is simple but may result in pain and deformity, and fixation of the LHBT wastes the tendinous tissue of the segment of the articular cavity. Various specialists have hence proposed the technique of transfer of the LHBT and maximization of the effect of tendinous tissues of the articular cavity. Different procedures target different types of injuries. In this Technical Note, we describe an arthroscopic intra-articular proximal biceps tenotomy with extra-articular transfer procedure, which provides a "latch effect", strengthens the rotator cuff tendon, and may be able to reduce the retear rate.
