Surgical Treatment of Injury to the Posteromedial Meniscocapsular-Extra-articular Attachment Associated With Rupture of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament.

Abstract

Concomitant injuries are often present in the knee affected by anterior cruciate ligament injuries. Certain injuries are routinely identified, whereas others may be inadvertently neglected. Such injuries include lesions to the posteromedial meniscocapsular-extra-articular attachments. This can result in instability not only of the medial meniscus but also of the knee joint as a whole. Consequently, it is crucial to identify and manage these concomitant injuries during the assessment and treatment of anterior cruciate ligament injuries to enhance patient outcomes and ensure knee stability. Our technique offers a straightforward approach for the identification of such injuries through the application of the "Medial Pseudo-Hiatus Sign" and shows an effective treatment protocol. This technique is applicable universally by surgeons.
