Abstract
Parenchymal infarction in organs may cause increased FDG activity mimicking malignancy. We describe contrast-enhanced CT and FDG PET/CT findings in a case of multiple iatrogenic pancreatic infarcts after transcatheter bronchial artery embolization with gelatin sponge particles for the treatment of hemoptysis caused by lung cancer. The pancreatic infarcts were located at the periphery of the pancreas and showed hypovasculariy on postcontrast CT and hypermetabolism on FDG PET/CT, mimicking malignancy. This case indicates that pancreatic infarcts should be included in the differential diagnosis of FDG-avid pancreatic lesions, especially in patients undergoing endovascular embolization before FDG PET/CT.
