Abstract

Recognition of sensory deficits and atypical anatomic involvement can help distinguish trigeminal trophic syndrome from its common mimickers and prevent unnecessary procedures. Treatment should prioritize interruption of the itch-scratch cycle, as reconstruction alone is prone to recurrence when the underlying sensory dysfunction persists.
