Abstract
Two studies in this issue of Cell Stem Cell show that splenic extramedullary hematopoiesis in myelofibrosis develops within a remodeled hematopoietic, immune, and stromal environment. Austin et al.<sup>1</sup> define its cellular states, whereas Dugué et al.<sup>2</sup> reveal the spatial and temporal remodeling of the stromal niche.
