Abstract
We determined the characteristics of testicular adenomatoid tumors which could distinguish these lesions from testicular malignancies. Clinical presentation and ultrasonographic findings in 3 men with testicular adenomatoid tumors were compared with those in 10 men treated for testicular malignancies. Clinical presentation was similar for all patients. Of the 3 adenomatoid tumors 2 appeared isoechoic on ultrasound and 1 appeared normal. None of the 10 cancers appeared isoechoic or normal on ultrasound. Small tumors that appear isoechoic on ultrasound should be biopsied through an inguinal incision with frozen section assessment rather than immediate radical orchiectomy.
