Abstract

Although patients may say they are consulting their family physician about a physical complaint, it is estimated that between one-half and two-thirds are really seeking help with problems such as depression, anxiety or severe stress. Many family practitioners are improving their knowledge about diagnosing and treating emotional and psychosocial problems, says a Toronto psychiatrist.
