Abstract
Cryptosporidiosis is increasingly recognized to be a major cause of diarrheal disease in the United States. Improved strategies for prophylaxis of opportunistic infections in persons with advanced HIV disease have been identified. Zidovudine was shown to decrease perinatal transmission of HIV.
