Spinal cord tumor appearing as unusual pain.

Abstract

The authors report two cases of spinal cord tumors characterized by unusual pain, which is recurrent abdominal pain or cervical angina. These unusual pains were improved after removal of tumors in the patients. The authors conclude that the pain was caused by vascular compression, bleeding in the tumor, or incomplete block of the cerebrospinal fluid flow. They recommend the use of osteoplastic laminectomy, because anatomic structure and spinal function should be preserved in young patients.
