Abstract
About one hundred European cardiologists discussed the role of calcium antagonists in the follow-up management of myocardial infarction. beta-blockers are the treatment of choice. Where these are contra-indicated or otherwise unsuitable, many clinicians would use a non-dihydropyridine calcium antagonist alone or in combination with an ACE inhibitor. There is broad agreement that calcium antagonists should not be used in patients with concomitant left ventricular failure. Cholesterol estimation in post-infarction patients is essential.
