Abstract
The creative arts, and in particular writing, can be very powerful as a healing therapy. This paper provides an insight into the possibility of using writing as a healing force. It follows my journey through discovery, diagnosis and experiences of neuromyopathy; yet it is a journey travelled by any person faced with a major debilitating condition, be it caused by disease or injury. It gives an insight into the needs and expectations of people who are suffering, and so promotes understanding between people with disabilities and their families, friends and health-care professionals. The added dimension of spirituality gives depth and strength to this healing force.
