Abstract
To report a case of congenital intrascleral epithelial cyst. Case report. A 3-year-old boy presented with a limbal cyst noticed at birth. The cyst enlarged over the next 3 1/2 years and dissected into the cornea, compromising the visual axis. Excision of the cyst improved the patient's best-corrected visual acuity in the left eye from 20/80 to 20/30. Upon histopathology, the cyst wall was lined by conjunctival epithelium. This congenital intrascleral epithelial cyst later enlarged and dissected into the cornea. We believe that the cyst developed secondary to congenital sequestration of conjunctival epithelium.
